Is that us? Clinging to lifeless religiosity and empty tradition. Reducing Christianity to a series of conscience-easing checklists. Blindly stumbling through a life of God-mocking, God-defying 'myselfianity'. Is that us?
We were made for so much more. To know and to partner with the living God. To give our lives for the things He is passionate about. To run with Him into the most fulfilling, world-changing adventure imaginable.
It's time to dream again, time to hope again, time to live again.
Schedule
Friday 3rd October
7:30pm - 9:30pm (MAIN SESSION)
Revelation: Where it all begins. Encounter afresh the living God - who is He and what is He passionate about?
Saturday 4th October
3:00pm - 5:00pm (ALL-AGES PROGRAMME)
- Pre-school creche.
- Dynamic kids programme (in association with SAMS)
- Awesome youth zone (in association with Tearfund)
- Range of seminars for the adults.
And of course, the opportunity to catch up over some coffee and cake whilst enjoying the live music! Also, you'll want to make time to wander round the many different stands and displays represented.
7:30pm - 9:30pm (MAIN SESSION)
Restoration: Acknowledge the mess, trust in the healer, rest in the grace.
Sunday 5th October
6:30pm - 8:30pm (MAIN SESSION)
Rediscovery: What does it really mean to be the people of God? Be astounded and overwhelmed; equipped and inspired.
Speakers
Bruce Main
Dr. Bruce Main is the President of UrbanPromise based in Camden, New Jersey. Bruce founded UP in 1988, after a mission trip to Camden with his now good friend (and 2009 Souled Out speaker!) Tony Campolo.
For twenty years Bruce has devoted himself to living out his faith in the poorest and most violent city in the U.S., having a lasting impact on the lives of hundreds of young people and their families.
A master story-teller and dynamic Bible teacher, Bruce is a popular author and speaker, travelling throughout the U.S. and all over the world.

Steve Clifford
Steve Clifford is the chairperson of Hope 08, a national movement of Churches and organisations working together to speak and demonstrate the transforming love of Christ.
He also chairs the Soul Survivor leadership team and is one of the leaders of the Pioneer network of Churches, speaking extensively at conferences and churches all over the world.
Information
Cost
There is no entry charge for any part of ENCOUNTER08. However, the costs are significant, so there will be an opportunity to give an offering at each of the evening sessions.
Child care
While not targeted at children, Souled Out events are very child friendly, and we regularly have many children (including some in buggies) in the main auditorium. However if you want/need to take them out of the main room, during each evening sessions there will be an unstaffed play area (with a video link) available for you.
On the Saturday afternoon there will be the following options:
- pre-school (0-5 years) creche
- programme for primary school ages
- Youth Zone for those in secondary school
