Beliefs
The BIBLE
The Bible is God’s divine word to us. It was written by human authors, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian belief and life, and is entirely reliable and trustworthy. ‘All scripture is God breathed is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.’
(2 Timothy 3:16-17)
GOD
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He reveals Himself as one God with distinct personal attributes; Father, Son and Holy Spirit, yet without division of nature, essence or being.
The FATHER
God the father is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise. He is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. He is fatherly in His attitude towards all humanity.
The SON
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Being conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, He lived a sinless human life and gave Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He demonstrated His power over sin and death by rising from the dead after three days. He ascended into heaven where He now sits exalted at the right hand of the Father. He will one day return to judge the earth, reigning as King of kings and Lord of lords.
The HOLY SPIRIT
After Jesus had returned to heaven He sent the Holy Spirit into the world. He makes all men and women aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation, and provides the Christian with spiritual gifts, power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He enlightens and empowers the believer and the Church in worship, evangelism, and service.
HUMAN BEINGS
Men and women are made in the image of God and are the supreme object of God's creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, we have all sinned and fallen short of God’s standard. Human beings are tempted by Satan and fall into sin. Because God is holy and perfect and just, the result of the sin in our lives is separation from God. Only the grace of God can bring man into His holy fellowship, thus fulfilling God’s eternal creative purpose.
SALVATION
Salvation is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, who by His own blood, obtained eternal redemption for the sinner. All who repent of their sins and receive Him as Saviour and Lord are born again as children of God. Salvation is found through Jesus Christ alone. All who are saved through Christ are guaranteed eternal life and are promised perfect harmony with God in heaven for ever.
The CHURCH
The Church is the universal “Body of Christ” comprising local congregations from across the world. The Church includes all of the redeemed from all the ages; believers from every tribe, tongue, people and nation. It operates under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and is responsible and accountable to Him.
