FAQs

1. What does a Souled Out event look like?

Each Saturday evening event generally runs for 2 hours. The lively and upbeat music, led by the Souled Out Band, includes the latest songs as well as the oldest hymns. Multi-media presentations are shown to help us in our worship. There is always a challenging, scriptural message from a guest speaker. At each event we offer an opportunity, for any who would desire it, to be ministered to in prayer by our trained team. All this takes place in a modern auditorium in a commercial venue with professional lighting and sound.

2. Who organises and runs Souled Out?

The Souled Out organisation is run by a relatively small team, currently representing seven Churches from across Aberdeenshire. This team meets on a regular basis to plan and develop the programme of events and associated activities. All aspects of the ministry are regularly and prayerfully reviewed in order that the events remain fresh and relevant.

3. Is Souled Out a youth event?

No. We have run some specific youth events, but a typical Saturday Souled Out event is not intended to be only for youth.

Since Souled Out began, we have not wanted to put an age limit on those who can come, and whilst we recognise that the events will appeal particularly to students and younger adults, it's been great to see a very large range of ages represented (from babies to pensioners!) at every event.

4. Do I need to buy a ticket to attend Souled Out?

There is no fee to attend a regular Souled Out event, as we don't feel it's right to expect a certain amount of money before people can come and worship God!

That said, the events themselves cost a considerable amount of money (on average around £8 per head) so we do offer attendees the chance to contribute to those costs by uplifting a free-will offering at some point during the event.

There may be times when it would be appropriate and helpful to issue tickets (free or otherwise) but we will let you know in advance if this will be the case.

5. How can I get involved in Souled Out?

We're always delighted to welcome volunteers who have time and energy to serve at Souled Out. There are heaps of ways to get involved - see the Volunteer section of this website for details. Of course if you have other creative ways you'd like to help, please just let us know!

6. Can I invite Souled Out to come and run an event in my local community?

Yes. Since 2006, Souled Out has run a number of 'Praise Nights' in different local communities. These Praise Nights essentially combine all the key ingredients of a regular Souled Out event, but are packaged to fit in your local church or community context. Click here to find out more, or send us an email.

7. What is ENCOUNTER? Is it different to Souled Out?

ENCOUNTER is simply one of the events that Souled Out organises each year, normally in the Autumn. It is different to a normal Saturday Souled Out event in a few ways:

  •   Encounter lasts a whole weekend
  •   It contains a fuller programme including various seminars and focus sessions
  •   The event always includes something for children/families
  •   There is a youth programme on Saturday afternoon, and sometimes a special youth event one evening
  •   There are usually a variety of ministry organisations in attendance to present opportunities for greater engagement, and missions involvement.

ENCOUNTER is our biggest event - we often find that people travel from much further afield to come to this event. You don't want to miss this!

Check out the details for ENCOUNTER07 here.

8. Can I get a recording of the music from Souled Out?

We produced a number of live recordings from events in 2004 and 2005.  Then in 2006, we launched the label 'Doxano Music', releasing Glorify Your Name.

Since then, at ENCOUNTER07, we launched Take My Life, the second full album from Doxano Music.  This album has been received fantastically well and certainly took the quality and production up a good few notches!

You can listen to samples and buy Take My Life here on the Souled Out website.

9. Can I publicise my event or organisation at Souled Out, or can I send something through your email distribution list?

We are very happy for most organisations (assuming their values are consistent with those of Souled Out) to have a stand in the concourse area of the AECC at our regular events. This is always a busy area, and a great way for people to find out what's going on.

Unfortunately, because it's impossible to say 'yes' to everyone, we are generally unable to accept requests to have special announcements made about certain events or organisations. Further, we have committed to our email subscribers that the Souled Out emails will not become a notice board for other events. (Please visit The Aberdeen Christian Diary for a comprehensive list of upcoming events.)

10. How can I receive regular news of what's happening at Souled Out?

There are two ways. Either subscribe to our mailing list or email us and request that our most recent newsletter be sent to you...in both cases you will be added to our database for all future emails which come from Souled Out. We send about one each month on average. Your details will never be passed to a third party organisation.

11. Our Church would love to connect more with Souled Out - how can we do this?

One of the best things to do is find someone in your Church or local community (might be you!) who can actively work as an ambassador for Souled Out.  We would stay closely in touch with this 'Souled Out Networker', making sure they're aware of the latest news and event information. They would then pass this information onto their own Church or organisation and hopefully other Churches in the local area.  If you think you might be someone who could fulfil this important role please email us.

Or perhaps your Church would consider financially partnering with Souled Out.

Finally, you could invite Souled Out to run a Praise Night in your local area.

12. Souled Out is quite different to how things are done at my own local Church - why?

God loves variety! And the crowd at Souled Out is representative of Churches from right across the denominational spectrum. This means that Souled Out has a 'feel' all of its own! For some, it might seem quite conservative, whilst for others, it may feel very contemporary.

Many have said that one of the most encouraging things about Souled Out, is the fact that it brings together hundreds of people from all different Church backgrounds, to worship the same Lord Jesus. For that reason, we try very hard to strike a balance regarding the style of each event.

13. Is Souled Out an evangelistic event? Can I bring someone who's not yet a Christian?

Souled Out does not seek to organise events which are explicitly evangelistic.  We aim to help ALL people (whether Christian or not yet Christian) see something of the wonder of who God is - through the integrity and authenticity of our worship, and by encouraging them to see the relevance and truth of the Bible. Our conviction and hope is, as this happens, lives will be changed and more people will desire to live for God with greater passion and commitment.

So, whilst there may not always be a specific evangelistic thrust during the evening, many have said that they are very comfortable bringing 'non-Christian' friends along to Souled Out, and over the years we have been thrilled to see some people put their faith in Christ for the first time at these events.

14. What denomination is Souled Out?

Souled Out is not connected to any one denomination. Between the members of our organising team and our Council of Reference, there are 9 different Church groups represented. We seek to run events that are suitable and appropriate for the 'Church' in its widest sense.
